🔹 Job Title: Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) – Mechanical Focus

🔹 Job Summary:
We are looking for a Mechanical-focused Supplier Quality Engineer) to join our team in Foshan. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and improving the quality performance of suppliers providing mechanical components, raw materials, and sub-assemblies used in the production of inductive coils and nickel-iron cores for electrical safety applications.
You will work closely with procurement, production, and engineering teams to ensure that all supplied parts meet mechanical specifications, dimensional accuracy, and reliability standards.
🔹 Key Responsibilities:
- Supplier Quality Management:
Evaluate, audit, and monitor suppliers of mechanical parts (e.g., stampings, housings, bobbins, brackets, insulation components, fasteners). - Mechanical Part Qualification:
Lead First Article Inspection (FAI) and PPAP for new or modified mechanical components. Ensure dimensional and material compliance with engineering drawings and specifications. - Process Audits:
Conduct on-site supplier process audits with a strong focus on mechanical manufacturing processes (e.g., stamping, injection molding, machining, assembly). - Quality Issue Resolution:
Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for supplier-related mechanical defects using tools such as 8D, Fishbone, 5-Why, and SPC. - Continuous Improvement:
Drive suppliers to improve mechanical process capability (Cp, Cpk), reduce variation, and implement error-proofing (poka-yoke). - Incoming Inspection Support:
Define inspection methods, sampling plans, and measurement criteria for mechanical characteristics. Support IQC team with gauges, fixtures, and training. - Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain supplier quality records, SCARs (Supplier Corrective Action Requests), and performance dashboards. Report key metrics (e.g., PPM, DPPM, OTD). - Collaboration:
Work closely with the mechanical design and process engineering teams to clarify specifications and address manufacturability issues.
🔹 Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Materials Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience as an SQE, Quality Engineer, or similar role with a mechanical focus, preferably in electrical/electronic components, magnetic cores, coils, or automotive supply chains.
Technical Skills (Mechanical Focus):
- Strong understanding of mechanical drawings and GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing).
- Familiarity with mechanical manufacturing processes:
- Stamping / forming
- Injection molding (thermoplastics for electrical insulation)
- Machining (turning, milling)
- Assembly (screw/bonding/welding)
- Experience with measurement tools and inspection methods (CMM, calipers, micrometers, pin gauges, profile projectors).
- Knowledge of material specifications for electrical/mechanical applications (e.g., steels, nickel-iron alloys, engineering plastics).
Quality Tools:
- Proficient in APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, and Control Plans.
- Hands-on experience with 8D problem-solving and supplier audits (VDA 6.3 or ISO 9001/IATF 16949 is a plus).
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication and negotiation skills with external suppliers.
- Ability to work independently and travel occasionally to supplier sites (domestic).
- Fluent English reading/writing (technical specifications and email correspondence).
Spoken English is a plus but not mandatory.
Preferred:
- Experience in coil, transformer, or magnetic core manufacturing.
- Knowledge of insulation coordination and creepage/clearance requirements for electrical safety.
- Certification: ASQ CQE, CSSGB, or lead auditor.
