Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic R&D Manager to lead our engineering and product development team for HVAC systems in China. Reporting directly to the Asia Operations Director, you will be responsible for driving innovation, managing the full product lifecycle, and aligning local R&D activities with global business strategies. This role requires a hands-on leader who can bridge technical excellence with commercial viability while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the R&D roadmap for HVAC products in the Asian market, ensuring alignment with global headquarters’ strategic objectives and regional customer needs.
2. Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technicians. Foster a collaborative environment that encourages creativity, technical excellence, and professional growth.
3. Product Development: Oversee the entire product development cycle from concept generation, design, and prototyping to testing, validation, and production launch, ensuring compliance with international standards (e.g., ASHRAE, AHRI, CE, UL).
4. Innovation & Localization: Drive innovation in energy efficiency, smart controls, and sustainable refrigerants. Adapt global product platforms to meet local regulatory requirements, climate conditions, and market preferences in China and broader Asia.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Sales teams to ensure seamless technology transfer, cost optimization, and timely market introduction.
6. Budget & Resource Management: Develop and manage the R&D budget, allocate resources effectively, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope.
7. Compliance & Quality: Ensure all designs and processes adhere to strict quality standards, safety regulations, and environmental policies.
8. Stakeholder Communication: Provide regular technical updates and progress reports to the Asia Operations Director and global leadership teams. Act as the key technical liaison between the China R&D center and overseas counterparts.

Qualifications & Requirements:
1. Education: Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, Thermal Dynamics, or a related field. Advanced degree (MBA or PhD) is a plus.
2. Experience:
o Minimum 8–10 years of progressive experience in HVAC product design and development, with at least 3–5 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
o Proven track record of successfully launching HVAC products (e.g., chillers, VRF systems, air handling units, rooftop units, or heat pumps) in the Asian market.
3. Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and refrigeration cycles. Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) and simulation tools is essential.
4. Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of Chinese and international HVAC standards, certification processes, and energy efficiency regulations.
5. Language Skills: Excellent command of English (both written and spoken) is mandatory, as you will communicate frequently with global headquarters and international stakeholders. Native Mandarin proficiency is required for local team management.
6. Leadership Competencies: Strong people management, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills. Ability to inspire a team and drive results in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
