Potential Career Path: First responsible for the project transfer then managing the BU as Plant Manager
About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced NPI Manager to orchestrate the seamless introduction of our European electromechanical product lines into the Chinese market. This role is critical to aligning global technical excellence with local market demands, ensuring regulatory compliance, and accelerating time-to-market. Reporting directly to the China Country President, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our China strategy and have a clear pathway to lead a standalone BU in the future, overseeing end-to-end business operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Localization & Adaptation:
a) Lead cross-functional teams to customize European products for China, including design modifications, software localization, and certification adjustments (e.g., voltage, safety standards).
b) Collaborate with R&D and engineering teams in Europe to ensure products meet Chinese regulatory (e.g., CCC, GB standards) and customer requirements while preserving core European quality.
2. Regulatory & Compliance Excellence:
a) Secure all necessary certifications, including medical device approvals
b) Ensure adherence to ISO 13485 (for medical devices), IEC 60601, and other industry-specific standards.
3. Cross-Functional Leadership:
a) Partner with sales, marketing, supply chain, and quality teams to develop localized go-to-market strategies, pricing models, and distribution channels.
b) Manage stakeholder expectations across regions, balancing global product roadmaps with local market priorities.
4. Supplier & Partner Management:
a) Identify and onboard local suppliers/contract manufacturers, ensuring cost efficiency and alignment with European quality benchmarks.
b) Negotiate contracts and resolve cross-border operational challenges (e.g., logistics, intellectual property protection).
5. Strategic Insights & Innovation:
a) Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to inform future product development and innovation pipelines.
b) Propose new product opportunities or adaptations tailored to China’s rapidly evolving industrial and healthcare sectors.
Requirements
1. Education & Experience:
a) Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Industrial Design, or Business Administration.
b) 5+ years of NPI/project management experience, with a proven track record of successfully launching overseas electromechanical or medical device products in China.
2. Industry & Regulatory Knowledge:
a) Deep understanding of China’s regulatory landscape for industrial equipment and medical devices (NMPA, CFDA, GB standards).
b) Familiarity with global standards (e.g., CE, UL, FDA) and their alignment with Chinese requirements.
3. Skills & Competencies:
a) Fluent in English (written and verbal); additional European language (e.g., German, French) is advantageous.
b) Strong project management skills with expertise in Agile/Waterfall methodologies and tools (e.g., JIRA, MS Project, SAP).
c) Analytical mindset with proficiency in market research tools (e.g., Nielsen, IQVIA for medical devices).
4. Leadership & Cultural Fit:
a) Ability to lead cross-functional teams in a matrixed, fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
b) Cultural sensitivity to bridge European and Chinese business practices, with a focus on building trust and transparency.
