Job Title: Robotics Commissioning & Quality Assurance Engineer

Supplier Execution & Day-to-Day Oversight

● Conduct frequent, on-site visits to supplier workshops and manufacturing facilities across China to oversee the physical build quality of robotic cells, automation systems, and mobile automation equipment.
● Monitor daily manufacturing progress, ensuring that mechanical assembly, electrical cabinet wiring, and sensor integration strictly follow the approved engineering schematics and European IEC standards.
● As the primary point of contact for the suppliers’ engineering team to resolve immediate technical
roadblocks on the shop floor.
● Serve as the critical technical feedback loop to the local project manager in Europe. Proactively report and manage any specification deviations, required engineering changes, or localised component substitution.
● Collaborate directly with European counterparts to secure rapid approval and enforce zero unauthorised deviations, ensuring project velocity is maintained without compromising quality or lead times.

Quality Assurance & Technical Translation
● Perform rigorous reviews of the supplier’s PLC logic, fleet management software, and source code
during the development phase.
● Ensure all software architecture is modular, fully commented, and avoids proprietary “lock-ins”

Commissioning & FAT
● Physically execute the technical Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) protocols alognside the supplier
● Validate all safety loops, emergency stops, kinematic paths, and heavy-payload capacities before
the equipment is cleared for the Hub Lead’s final commercial sign-off.
● Work directly with Chinese suppliers engineers to troubleshoot, debug and optimise machine performance prior to export.

Global Deployment and SAT
● Travel to Aperam’s global manufacturing sites to receive the imported equipment.
● Lead the physical installation, integration with local automation and IT/OT systems, and final Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
● Train local plant maintenance teams on the operator, troubleshooting, and upkeep of the newly installed robotic systems.
What We Expect From You

Education & Background
● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automation, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a closely related
technical discipline
Language :
● Native Mandarin with fluent, strong technical English. You must be able to fluently read English Engineering specifications, write technical QA reports, and communicate effectively with European engineerings at any given stage of the project
Technical Skills & Experiences
● 5+ years of intensive, hands-on experience in industrial automation commissioning, PLC programming (Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley), robots (ABB, KUKA, Fanuc, or advanced local brands).
● Specialised knowledge in AGV and AMR is highly desired. This includes hands-on experience with fleet management systems, SLAM navigation, dynamic path planning, and mobile robot safety protocols.
● Up-to-date knowledge of the latest global, particularly Chinese trends and technological advancements within the mobile robotics and automation industry, including the evolution of multi-sensor fusion, next generation mobile device, humanoid robots, and high-payload material handling solution.
● A proven track record of successful execution and commissioning in heavy industry, steelmaking, metallurgy, or similar complex and harsh manufacturing environments.
● Deep practical knowledge of electric cabinet wiring, industrial communication protocols (Modubus, Profinet, OPC UA, EtherCAT), and advanced sensor integration (machine vision, Lidar, laser).
Compliance Knowledge
● Practical familiarity with electrical safety standards and hardware.
● Ability to instantly identify non-compliant or sub-standard local components that do not meet global industrial benchmarks.

● Highly pragmatic, hands-on and problem-solving mindset with a strong bias for action on the factory floor.
● Meticulous attention to detail regarding technical documentation and code structure.
● Resilient and assertive; capable of holding suppliers accountable to strict technical standards and rejecting sub-par engineering work.
● willingness to travel extensively (up to 70%) within China, coupled with the flexibility for international deployment trips.
